TV "Room." Thinking I should have made the TV mounting wall fabric covered rather than the fine detailed porcelain tile, too finely detailed to be obvious in this photo. |

Plan: Two story home for Houston urban neighborhood (50'x125' lot). Primary living on 2nd floor (2100sqft) with controlled views to the street, sky and backyard, additional 300 sqft 2nd floor screened porch. Neighborhood restrictions prevent garage doors within 75' of sidewalk. 3' side setback restriction allows homes to be 6' apart - therefore all side windows are obscured glass. Two guest suites with baths on the first floor (1000sqft).

Cheers! FINAL VISIT BY COH INSPECTOR. While he happens to be filling out a red tag, its simply a request (subsequently fulfilled) to revise terminology on our Structural Engineer's Inspection Report. |
A personal reward - being able to peel the miscellaneous green tags off the windows! Yippee! |
Totally exciting; seeing the final color feature being applied! |
Installed the powder bath mirror frame and shelf unit this afternoon. |
Two more green tags from late last week; the HVAC R ("refrigeration" for the wine cellar) and final electrical. |
Another excellent week of progress; hvac, hvacR, elevator & electrical inspection all passed this week. I think we're down to the final building and site inspection! A few punchlist items here and there - the only major effort remaining is final paint and clean-up. First coat of yellow applied today to the front doors. |
Kitchen is almost done. Remaining items are only the two pantry doors! |
Monday update: Appliance installation complete. My installer, Byron Haney, put in a 13 hour day - I'm unbelievably grateful. Not only is he diligent, he possesses the eye of an artist/architect, making sure the multi-adjustable, minimal tolerance freezer & refrigerator doors were perfectly square (visually). Regarding move-in date, I dropped in the Houston Permitting Center today to inquire about personal effects and COO (Certificate of Occupancy). I'm seriously contemplating a date to schedule movers. The electrician is my wild card; today he advised me that he will request his final for Thursday. Cautious, I'll wait until I hear the result of that inspection before scheduling movers.

Good week! Entry and stairway coming together with handrail/railings complete and stair treads being stained; plumber passed final inspection also. This coming week I expect final HVAC, electrical and elevator inspections. Also we will order the gas meter, install city water meter, and finish appliance installation. |
Looking up from the first floor. The painters should be painting all week, coming close to wrapping up! |
Small patio area off second guest room with orange stucco wall. |
